Glorious, 1952, still life, oil on panel, depicting a spray of flowers, little bowls and a basket. Signed upper left Louis Pons (1927-1985) and dated 11.8.1952

Louis Pons, French artist, born in 1927 in Marseilles, lived in Paris since 1973. In 1959, he composed his first assemblages, collages in three dimensions, or relief paintings made of objects and materials of recovery. Surrounded by surrealism and art brut, Louis Pons is above all a singular artist; Through his boxes, his reliquaries, his collages, his assemblages, he tirelessly pursues a poetic ethnology of his own. "Debris hoarder who composes original works with worn things" (Gilles Plazy), his works are always full of quirks, incongruities, surprises and sometimes even humour.
