1970 Abstract, 'Native American', Jean Luc Barnola (1943-1991)
1970's oil on canvas by French artist Jean Luc Barnola (1943-1991) depicting a native American. Rusts, caramels and charcoal black create the depth of this piece with linear over painting in smokey grey and ash. A sliver of cyan appears in places though used with restraint.
About the artist
Jean-Luc Barnola was a painter, draftsman and a poet. Very little of the artist's work has survived due to his precarious nature. This piece is signed with the stamp of the workshop on the reverse of the canvas (see photo).
