Mid-century Oil Painting, 'Captain Corelli'
Fondly entitled, 'Captain Corelli,' for obvious reasons. This beautiful mid-century painting depicts a young man playing a mandolin. Foreshortening of the figure lends eccentricity, his long cool fingers are a delight. Take note of his stunning period shoes and turn-ups, that rosebud pout and high cheekbone.
Signed in the sole of the shoe, A Laing.
