About the Artist
Painter, wood-engraver, modeller and teacher, specialising in portraits, flowers and horses.
Born, 1903 in Plymouth, Devon and studied at the Plymouth School of Art 1918-22 and at the Royal College of Art 1922-4.
Won a travelling scholarship and attended the Atelier Colarossi in Paris and Italy. Exhibited at the Royal Academy; the National Society of Painters, Sculptors and Printmakers (of which he was a member), New English Art Club and at the Redfern Gallery.
Lecturer at Wimbledon College of Art, 1937-68. Lived latterly at Headly Surrey.
His work is held at the V&A Museum, the British Museum and provincial museums.
