Expressionist, mid- century oil landscape by Swedish artist Gertrud de val Liner (1899 - 1993). Composed largely of vertical brush strokes this painting depicts a cool duck egg sea with heather purple cliff tops, splashes of ochre and burnt orange. The fingers of trees springing into life with blossom.

About the Artist
Gertrud De Val-Linér studied at Althins Painting School and the Royal Academy in Stockholm 1927-1931 and during study trips to, among others, Brazil, Germany and France.
She participated in the Exponents exhibition at Liljevalch Art Hall 1935.
