Large, Contemporary Painting, 'Roses and Carnations,' Deborah Windsor
Large, joyful, contemporary oil painting by British artist, Deborah Windsor.
Vessels of flowers, spilling over wildly, sit on a table covered in a mid-century patterned cloth of tangerine and fuchsia. A cyan jug sports a lovely aquamarine outline, a small, striped jug is bursting with the head of a blue hydrangea. A plethora of colours spring forth using multiple layers to build intensity an vibrancy.
About the Artist
Deborah Windsor lives on the edge of Shap Fell in Cumbria in a Victorian Workhouse where she has adapted the bakery to create a stunning studio.
Following in the footsteps of her artist mother, Windsor is inspired by groupings of domestic objects, flowers and ceramics. Largely working in oils, Windsor delights in applying layer upon layer, creating texture using wet on wet and scraping techniques.
Her works are peppered with references to Matisse and the Scottish colourists.
